Marantz sr 7005 or Yamaha RXA1010 ?

Hi, i have been on this forum a few times lately, saying that my choice for my new receiever would be the Marantz sr7005 (now it has dropped to half price), however i have been looking again, & have discovered the Yamaha RXA1010 (which is slightly more expensive, roughly £200.00). Both of these have got excellent reviews, so therefore i am looking for your help to decide which one you would go for & why. I am looking for quality over features (if that makes sense), as you will have more knowledge on this matter than me, so its over to you.
Thank you Mark.

i am looking at the same receivers at the minute. marantz is priced at 799 with the yamaha a bit more as you say. it all depends on your speakers, i have monitor audio rs6,there paired with an onkyo txsr 806. i have recently been informed that that was a very bad pairing for the rs6 and i have found them to very high on the treble.
on the other hand the marantz and yamaha tend to have a very smooth sound and arnt to harsh on the treble.
also the marantz receiver is very musical,so ive been told.
as i said im in the same posistion as you and it depends on your speaker set up.

The RS range in general has always sounded detailed but a tad bright in the treble which I have read is a common Monitor Audio trait. Onkyo AVR's I have heard have also been a bit too attacking in the high frequencies, so I think the Yamaha RXA1010 would be a better match, maybe with some Chord speaker cable such as Rumour 2.
