So far I am really enjoying this amp, my only issue is when I use a networking feature, such as Air Play or net radio, I often just get "no signal" displayed on the TV, the audio is fine and works a treat. Just a bit annoying as its nice to see some info displayed as opposed to a blue screen displaying "no signal". I have found that changing the GUI setting NET/USB to "always" has helped.

A reset of the amp does sort it, but only for a day or so. I Hopefully a firmware upgrade may sort it?

Anyone else experienced this, without me having to read the entire thread.

Thanks

Yeah it seems a common problem.
I do the same as you to solve it.

I've never had this problem.
I've read before that the Xbox ain't the best sound wise so the problem could be the Xbox.

My brother just read up and its apparently the game itself that has the problem! My brother read up on it and it seems to be happening more than not. The new ghost recon if anyone was wondering Brilliant game though! I want be become a ps3 gamer because of picture and sound quality but the ps3 pad and the way the psn works isnt worth the compromise.

I was hoping the latest firmware update would resolve it, no such luck!!

It's very annoying when you have to reset the unit just to use a feature fully!!

I have my Denon 1912 all set up and working nicely. I just needed to set up the network. Today I bought an ethernet cable and have connected my Denon up to my router.

When I select NET/USB I get the radio, proving the connection appears to be working, but when I tried to install the new firmware I got "connection failed" and when I select NET/USB while the music plays, I do not get the menu on screen, just a blank screen!

Can anyone help, has anyone else had this issue?
Many thanks!!!!!

I encountered the same issue. Here is the workaround:

I'm getting annoyed with air play and dropping out. I have an old iPod which doesn't work via USB with it. I guess it's because it's too old.

So going to get a dock on a long cable and a new iPod.

What's the best iPod and dock combination in people's opinions to use just as a music source. No need for apps etc

Are you sure it's not your home network that is causing you problems with Air Play? My Air Play works flawlessly with the 1912! Is your firmware up to date? Have you got an Apple TV to test Air Play on?

No apple tv to test.

I have the latest BT homehub 3. It may well be the home network causing the problem but I don't see how I could resolve this?

I stream from my iPad - sometimes I can get several minutes with no breaks but sometimes it does it several times in a song which is annoying.

I thought having the dock and iPod juke box then it would never be an issue?

I too am a denon 1912 owner and I also am suffering with the airplay issue to begin with it worked great as long as I was near the router ie in the front room and the n I had to do a hard reset and now it's sketchy at best when it does show up it only shows in my iPhone and refuses to ever show on my iPad which is very annoying so far I'm really not impressed with this amp I've only had it a few weeks and I'm getting very temped to send it back as its not doing what's its meant to.

If only working while in close proximity to your wireless router then it is the router at fault and nothing to do with the amp. The wireless signal to your AirPlay devices comes via the router, the fact you can get a signal close to the router simply suggests that the amp is sending the signal to it, but the router isn't efficient enough to output it wirelessly.

Love my denon. Dont need airplay or any of the little trinkets it offers so dont run into any issues at all. Its used purely for games and movies and it does this wonderfully. This is an entry level avr after all and not a stereo.

I had this same problem for the 1st time this weekend. I unplugged the unit for about 10 secs and this fixed it. Is unplugging the equivalant of doing a reset?

When I did this it did nothing although I did unplug my router last night as it seemed painfully and hurray AirPlay is now working on both my iPhone and iPad. Good times but this has definitely proved that for this particular problem I need a faster router. Now I just need to make sure it remembers my setting and I'll be happy.

Does anyone know where I can pick one of these up for sub £300 now? They seem to be out of stock everywhere, Richer Sounds have them on their site @ £250 and I was going to snap one up today but as luck would have it they told me on the phone they had ran out I'll be gutted if I don't find one!

Been on the fence between this and the Pioneer 921 for some time now, going to my local RS tomorrow to see what I can find. From what I've read the Denon isn't a great match with my speakers (Wharfedale Diamond 10.1) but is more reliable than the Pioneer. tbh at £250 I think the Denon sounds like a great deal, so if there's any left in my local store I might come home with one tomorrow.

Not surprised by that since it is now end of life. The 2012 successor model, the 1913, is due any minute now so it might mean some hard searching for you. It has already been released in the States but typically not here yet

Yes I'm a bit gutted! I would wait for a 1913 but this will be £350 and I just can't afford that at this moment.

I'm finding I have to use Audyssey Dynamic Volume to get anything like a decent volume out of my 1912, without it on I have to ramp the volume up to about -20db just for it to be a normal listening level, with it on I can have the volume at -45db to get the same level. Does this sound right cos it seems a bit bizarre to me that without Dynamic Volume on I can barely hear anything until I get to -30db. Perhaps I should run the Audyssey set up again but I don't really have anything suitable to position the mic at the proper positions so it's a bit of a faff really. Would be interested to know what volume level other owners are using with Dynamic Volume on and off and also what speaker levels you're using, all of mine at about -5 or -6db as that's what the Audyssey set up set them to

Cheers

To be honest I had that issue amongst many other and I decided to hard reset mine and did away with the mic setup and I'm much happier with the results I've set it up and it sounds pretty nice now.

Was that one of the B-Stock ones? If so what condition was it in? I will snap one up if there are no marks on it!

None is RS Southampton
Apparently there are a few more to come in stock but they are unsure when, wouldn't be surprised if there aren't any though, seeing as the 1913 is on it's way.

Same response I got from RS in Hull so I ordered mine from here: Ebay Link

It says they're refurbished which I was a bit dubious about but I've emailed Hyperfi (who are obviously a well known reputable company) and they have said they are ex-demo but in very good condition, are fully checked over and also come with the standard 12 month warranty. For £250 I couldn't resist pressing buy, the cheapest I've seen brand new is £309 from Amazon which I couldn't afford (I'm buying other stuff too so budget is tight).

I'll let you know how I get on when mine comes but bare in mind there are only 6 left in stock.

According to their website they don't. It appears they have gone like hotcakes in the sales!

Hi guys,

I'm new to the 1912 and and trying to get used to it. This thread has been invaluable so far for things like setting the PS3 to the right output and how Sky don't transmit 5.1 over HDMI.

Anyway I've come across a "feature" that I seen mentioned earlier but haven't noticed if there is a fix for it yet?
Basically if I listen to Internet radio and then watch some TV for a while and go back to the internet radio, the radio seems to have been continuing to stream while I was watching TV. Not a great problem but with ISPs capping the data download it might cause problems further down the line.

Has there been a fix or work around for this does anyone know?

Cheers

Steven
