Hi all

I’m looking at getting one of these second hand to replace my Denon 1910,

It will be used with Kef Q500 fronts Kef Q200 centre and Kef T301 rears, and mini impact sub and a PS3 as blu ray player.

Is anyone using the Kef Q speakers with this amp? and how much better will it be over the Denon

Audio on Pre Out

Hi all,
could you please help me out. I have the LX-83 pre outed to my stereo amp for music on front left and right. I have just added speaker B in the adjacent room. I am really struggling with the following;

When i do the MCACC with the stereo amp set to the aux for pre out of front L/R audio from the LX i keep getting error from the L/R channels ?

Since adding the speaker B i can only get audio out of the main room front channels if i have it set to speaker B or both, so this then means sound blaring out from the adjacent room. If i set it to speaker A no audio ?

I know there is a zone 2 option but i have no amp to drive 2 small speakers.

Is there a way around this ?, the music sound using my dedicated stereo amp is far better than the LX83, i do have the following leads pre laid and available from the adjacent room phono, optical & obviously the HD cable connected to HD 2 out on the LX.
Pioneer have said that the amp can only recognise one format speaker B or a pre out to another amp not both. I know some one here will be able to cack this !!.
Many thanks for your help.
Telluride.

Got the dreaded flashing iPod light online at the weekend which means it is on r again with the local Pioneer Service centre. Very glad to find out this amp has a 2 year warranty.

Will however be writing a long snotty email to Pioneer UK afterwards stating if it goes up the swanny again (even out of warranty) that I'll be wanting a new amp.

Shocking quality from a supposedly superior brand

I have disconnected the player and just run one item through and the hum is still there
Can anyone give advice on the problem?

Hello,
I have recently been suffering from sound drop outs when watching Sky tv. It happens only very momentarily and is a very recent problem. I thought it was a Sky box problem and posted on the Sky HD forum, but no conclusions were reached and seemed to cause more arguments then anything else. I am beginning to think its the connection to the amp that's the problem and not Sky hardware.
I watched a bluray yesterday and it didn't happen then.

When playing back a Sky programme when a drop out has occurred, it does not happen again.

I am trying a process of elimination here so I have ordered a new optical cable from Sky to amp.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It's more than likely an audio setting in your PS3. Can it be set to bitstream in the settings ?
At the moment your PS3 is decoding the audio, when you want your Receiver to do it.

Thanks viper,
Ive just checked the ps3 is set to bitstream... im getting so frustrated with the 83 now. I got it a few weeks ago and still cant work out why it plays audio in pcm when i play a game. when i watch a movie on the ps3 it plays in dolby sound so im struggling to understand. I replaced my denon with the pioneer and didnt change any settings on the ps3 but for some reason i cant get the 83 to play surround with a game, any more ideas anyone?

Try toggling through the audio button on the receiver itself. Trying to remember were that is, I think it's behind the flap on the left

Or check the audio sig button behind the slide down flap on the remote

Viper.... you mentioned earlier about getting the amp to do the decoding. How do i do this? so i guess you are saying that for dvd blu-ray music etc the amp can do the source decoding which must produce better sound quality than the source... within reason. Is that right?

Set your source player to bitstream, and the 83 will decode the audio. Behind the flap on the receiver is there a button that says 'auto surround'. ?

Hi, wonder if anyone can help please? My LX-83 cuts out when I do an mcacc set up. Whenever it gets to the front right speaker it shuts down and the on off switch flashes. I"ve checked for loose speaker wires, but they are ok. Guess it's got to go and visit Mr Pioneer. Does anyone have an idea what the approximate cost will be, just so I can judge if the quote is realistic. It cut out recently during a movie as well. Box didn't feel hot. Hadn't been on long.
I've also had problems connecting an amp to the f r pre-outs. Connected f r spkrs to the integrated amp and the interconnects to the front pre-outs. Just got buzzing and now I think it has damaged my exposure integrated amp. Thanks in advance.

Try swapping your fronts. Connect the right speaker to the left channel and the left to the right. See if the Amp goes into safe mode now testing the left channel

I know that sounds stupid but its to confirm if the its the Amp at fault or the wire/speaker.

Let us know how you get on.

pioneer SC-LX 83

hi Juster, thanks for your reply. i really think its strange that on such a level of Pioneer this things should not happen . i have own Yamaha & DENON for years and years never ever happen to me such a serious
malfunction . Maybe i should return to Denon or Yamaha.

Hi re my problem earlier in thread of lx83 cutting out on mcacc set up, I swapped over front left to right as suggested and tried it and it still cut out. Disconnected high level connection lead to my xxls400 sub and it went through mcacc test with no problems. Please can I ask if it is ok to connect a sub's high level to the lx83? I'm fairly sure I asked the man at bk elec when I ordered the sub? Thanks again for your help.

I've mentioned on this thread before its a service centre job.

On mine it happened to be be two resistors had popped on the power supply so they needed replacing.

Are you inside the two year warranty?

To be honest this is happening a lot so write a snotty email to pioneer customer services and even if our d warranty they might sort it. Shouldn't happening on an amp of this calibre

Found receipt and am still within the 2 year warranty (expires November), contacted Sevenoaks today and am taking it to them Saturday. Hopefully it will be a quick and simple repair.

Do you know did they replace the parts with upgraded components or simply do a strait part for part replacement, if they replace the parts for the exact same components wont they just go wrong again and this time it will be out of warranty

well mines gone as well, blue flashing ipod light. luckily only had it 11 month so still inside warranty dates. Taking back to shop on monday, I very surprised to find so many owners having this problem, with such a reputable brand, had yamaha and Lexicon most of my AV life and never had one minutes problem.

Guys,
Please check troubleshooting section of the operating instructions (page118).
It says: "when receiver switches off and iPod lightflashes -> check speaker wiring for loose strands of wire touching rearpanel or other set of wires".
Additionally you can set 'D.SAFETY' to either 1 or 2 (page 119).
Speaker impedance must be within 6...16 Ohm. If you try to connect4 Ohm speakers then you will see 'iPod light'...
