Spoke to Denon at great length earlier - must say the guy was extremely helpful and friendly.

The problem is indeed with Sky, and he was going to get back to Sky for an update. The problem is only evident on a particular make of 1Tb Sky HD boxes. Mine is a Pace box and these are not affected - lucky me!

I am going ahead with the purchase.

I agree with the earlier post. If the bug resides within the Sky firmware then only Sky can resolve it. It is pointless Denon attempting anything given the frequency of Sky firmware updates.

We don't know all the details but apparently sky's engineers have identified the issue and acknowledged they need to fix the problem with a firmware update to the Sky box.

Without knowing the exact problem its hard to say who is at fault, it could be that it works with the Sony as its not HDMI 1.4 or uses a different chipset or.... the list is endless.

Sky might fix it one day I guess...

I swapped my Denon in the end for a Onkyo and its been working ok, I have had other problems since and although I can't confirm it I suspect if you try a different HDMI input on your TV it might fix it?

well, my initial problem was on the very first day
after being able to do everything else but watch sky, i turned it off went to bed and when i came back from work it was working fine and has been working fine since

i have not updated any firmware and im currently running what was in the box.
i'll update the firmware tonight
this is my first home theater amp (after much deliberation between this, the marantz 5006 and pioneer's vsx 922)
im pretty much a novice to all this tbh however i feel like this is a very good buy. picture quality is amazing on my LG 50PM670T. i'll test this on the LED in the bedroon tonight
as far as sound goes, im curently working with cambridge audio s30 fronts and i must say, ive watched more tv in the past week than i have in the past 6 months, the sound reproduction is just phenomenal. im going back to richer sounds to get a s50 center and a pair of s70's. im still struggling to get good reproduction from ipod playback
the missus is not happy about the new set of speakers she said amsterdam or the speakers. the speakers won!!

It will work put you may experience pass through issue due to hdmi hand shake, and the 2tb box software, my pass though does not work with my 2tb box and my denon 3113

I have the HDCP handshake with a drx890 and avr 2313. Until I can force update (not available to my box yet) Im running thro a switch and opt cable. But the DD sound is all over the place Sky new HD has to be turned up alot and in movies scene to get 5.1 but then the BBC channel is far too loud and I have to switch it to pure (direct)top get the sound but only in stereo. Any ideas chaps.

I force updated yesterday and got the latest version. I'm now worried it's that that has caused this problem....

I updated yeterday and now the problem is fixed, now running the sky to the amp as it should be, sound all good as well! If you still have problem and the sky box has the r006 update, maybe you should be looking at cables or any switches / boosters you have in line.

What firm ware version do you have? Then call Denon to see if they have a record of this with your Amp? Is all i can suggests to try to get your Amp running with sky.
