Your AV reciever recommendations

I'm looking at a new av reciever to take advantage of HD audio, my budget will be about £300 ( £350 at a push)
All of the following have what i want:
Sony DH800
Yamaha 465
Onkyo 507
Denon 1610

I'll be connecting sony 350 bd player via hdmi
Xbox360 via hdmi and optical
Sky+ direct to tv with optical to reciever

In your opinion :
Which will suit my MA radius 225 and 90's the best ?
Which of the four will pass through the 24p output from the 350 ?
Can any of the four passthrough the hdmi video and audio signal while in standby ?

thanks in advance
Paul

Re: Your AV reciever recommendations

Do you mean the onkyo 607 (or even the 507), as the 707 seems to be out of your budget compared to the other amps in your list?

I thinnk both the onkyo and Denon will pass thru in standby.

BTW, with all those recievers you won't need the optical connection for the xbox, as they will all happily handle the DD from the xbox over the HDMI connection.

Re: Your AV reciever recommendations

With your speakers, I would say the Denon 1610 or the Yammy 465.

The 465 has one more HDMI input. The Denon has video upconversion (not upscaling) so that if you connect HDMI and analogue video sources to the amp, you only need the one HDMI from amp to TV.

The Denon doesn't have any input assignment issues, you need to check with the Yamaha as some video inputs are fixed and tied to certain digital audio inputs (there is a firmware download that fixes some of those issues). Though looking at your current kit list this ahouldn't be a problem.

As far as I know, both can pass HDMI through in standby --- with the Denon you have the choice of a specific HDMI input or last used. I believe you have to have the HDMI auto functionality switched on to have this pass through (which can sometimes more problems than it's worth in many peoples' opinion). I don't know the detail of the HDMI passthrough on the Yamaha 465, and there doesn't appear to be a manual to download on the Yamaha site

All will do this.
