Arcam p7, what should I pay?

Hi,

Just tentatively thinking about upgrading my amp to 7 channels. Any ideas what a 1-2yr old P7 is worth? Any good with M&K?

Thanks.

No idea about value, but P7 definitely works well with my M&K's.

I have just bought a P7 ex demo model from SSAV, 3 months old, £2000.
I am using it with M+K 150s and they sound sublime, huge amounts of detail, and amazing sense of openess, with plenty of controlled power. I'm lovin' it

Thanks, I wanted to keep things under £1000 so I guess I was dreaming really. Never mind

Re: Arcam p7, what should I pay?

If it was under a grand we would all have one

I did think about getting a power amp at some point but Crustyloafer got me thinking, is it better to spend money getting someting like a Arcam P7 or would the money be best spent on a high quality two channel power amp like the Bryston?

This is all hypothetical as funds are very dry at the moment

Also I think an DV139 would be on the cards before that

As I rarely listen in stereo a better amp for the front 2 would be pointless for me. If anything the centre channel requires more power than the L&R for HC use... however I would settle for a nice 3 channel amp but you don't see many

One of these would do the trick.

http://www.bryston.ca/6bsst_m.html

There was one of these going on here for about £2700. Best offer given was £2200 and the thread is now closed.

Audio-t have an ex dem p7 for £1925 from their website. Also occassionally you see a p35/3 amp come up if you only need the three channels.

Re: Arcam p7, what should I pay?

Thanks chaps, the Bryston are seksi but a little out of my league unfortnuately. I imagine they would be a little over the top for my M&K 750s too

I guess what I am hoping for is something a little 'smoother' than my Rotels and a little more power. The front 3 are my priority as I can happily keep my RMB1075 for surround duties.

Any idea what the P35/3 go for, a google didn't bring up much?

Thanks.

Adam

Billy Vee Audio in Lewisham are doing a p25/3 for £395 with a years warranty. I can't remember the differences between the p25 and the newer p35 but sa trip to arcam's site should sort that out for you.
Regards

Richard

Re: Arcam p7, what should I pay?

I paid £1500 for my p7 and have seen one go for as little as £1100 on ebay. Its all about trawling the ads and getting lucky.I run 5.1 so use the extra 2 channels to bi-amp my fronts.
