Speaker loads

Is there any harm in running different speaker loads on a power amp?

I have a Infinity Prelude and a Mission 78C centre speakers.

I'm thinking of running the front and rear centre speakers from a 2-channel amp - one speaker is 6 ohms the other is 8 (so one channel will have an 8 ohm load, with 6 ohm on the other).

Having said that - I suspect I will probably get better overall audio results by getting hold of another 78C and selling the Infinity.

Re: Speaker loads

I wouldnt expect too many problems apart from the obvious things such as level matching(they are very likely to have differing sensitivities) and the obviously different tonal balance of 2 different speakers.

The channel running the 6 ohm load may run slightly hotter, but any decently spec'd amp should have no trouble at all.

I took it as meaning front centre and rear centre but of course may be wrong.
