Arcam AV8 v Rotel 1068

How does the sound quality Arcam AV8 processor compare with the Rotel 1068 for (a) 5.1 sound and (b) stereo sound?

I expect people to say the Arcam is much better but there is a big price difference. What do you get for this price difference?

I know there is an Arcam AV9, but there are opportunities to get an Arcam AV8 bargain!

Re: Arcam AV8 v Rotel 1068

If you can only afford the cheaper of the 2 (the Rotel) then forget the Arcam as no matter how much better it is supposed to be you still can't afford it
However if you can afford either then YOU need to get out and demo both processors and buy the one that you prefer the sound of. There is no correct answer to your question, only which one each person prefers (assuming each person has listened to both!). You are likely to find that some prefer one to the other, but others prefer the other one. Arcam are very good with music, but as to wheather the added cost is worth the 'supposed' improvement is down to the individual to decide.

I had a demo of both precessors a few years back and found that I personally didn't like the Rotel sound. I therefore decided on the Arcam AV8, until my dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the Lexicon MC-8B

Mark.

Re: Arcam AV8 v Rotel 1068

I must admit that I was disappointed with the AV8 when I demo'd it a few years back. I didn't try the Rotel, but was impressed by the Naim AV2, Bryston, Krell and the Proceed, which I ended up with.
