Cyrus AvMaster 8.0

I was looking at this processor and have a few questions, does anyone know when it will be released and also would the cyrus sound match my epos m12.2 speakers, i would be using the inbuilt 3 channel amp for the moment until i get some power amps, wold this be ok. Or does anyone have any other reccomedations in the 700-800 price bracket.

Re: Cyrus AvMaster 8.0

Cyrus and Epos work very well indeed together (see my sig). Cyrus offer a fast, exciting sound which works very well with the 12.2's midrange clarity. What I would say is that I would have thought the inbuilt amps in the AVMaster won't really be up to driving the M12.2's hard. Now, I am only guessing here as the larger M22's are really hard to drive. While the M12.2's are much easier, the amps in the AVmaster are a step down, too, so I would be careful. Nevertheless, an additional 8 power or even link power may offer you a better bet for the M12.2's.

However, the AVMaster is designed to work with a Cyrus stereo amp, like the 8vs. It may be that if you get a stereo amp, rather than a power amp, then you are getting the best of both Stereo and AV; using the 8vs (or whatever) to drive the 12.2's and the AVMaster to drive the rest (Epos ELS or similar)

cheers for your help, i didnt think about adding a normal stereo amp instead of a power amp, could make the system sound alot better.

Re: Cyrus AvMaster 8.0

I just rang Cyrus to ask about this. I have to say they were quite unprofessional on the phone...but I won't let that one incidedent ruin my picture of the whole company. The blke I spoke to didn't seem very confident about the information he was giving me, but he did say it would be released at the end of this month at a price of £700.

This sounds quite encouraging, given that it has 3 channels of amplification included. However, it already seems dated and inflexible before it is launched. A mere 4 digital inputs, no 5.1 analogue inputs and no HDMI. So no DVDA/SACD or hi-def sources. What a completely wasted opportunity. Why not leave out the amplification and put in a few extra basic facilities?
