Is Arcam AV8 processor better than Rotel 1098?

I currently have a Rotel 1098 processor and it good but I now have the chance to buy a secon hand Arcam FMJ AV8 for a goodd price. Is it worth buying the AV8 considering it is nearly 3 years old? The main difference between them is that the AV8 is THX Ultra2 certified but the 1098 is not and the Rotel has quite a large TFT display but the AV8 does not.

To be honest both are good but I think the AV8 is better.

I have heard both and the Arcam was the more impressive.

That said , i heard the Arcam with the seven channel power amp and B&W 800 SERIES and the Rotel with only a 1075 and M&K K series.

Difficult one to answer.

They are both good but I have been told that the Arcam AV8 sounds better thn tha A32 stereo integrated amp (1200 pounds) in stetero and What Hifi - if you believe them - said that the Rotel 1098 sounded as good as a 750 pound stereo amp.

The Arcam AV8 is about 850 pounds more - list full price- than the Rotel 1098 so should be better anyway.

I used to own the Rotel 1098 and upgraded to the AV8. The AV8 is slightly better for movies but is in a different league when it comes to analogue.

There are rumours that the AV8 is soon to receive a much needed software update with rather tasty hardware modifications in the near future
