Hi all,

I am planning to purchase some AE Pro-Sub-Sat 5.1 active speakers. I am upgrading from a receiver so have no idea of what to purchase.

I have seen reviews of the AE Pro-Sub-Sat 5.1 suggesting a suitable processor could be purchase for around £1000, but giving any further details. see review on here for example

This would match my budget, but there seams little advise of what good in this price bracket. I watch movies mostly and music too.

What are my options and what would you recommend?

Probably worth setting out what you will use it for, music and film only ? what your processing needs are and what power amp you have or intend to buy ?

Use would 80% movies, The speakers are active speakers, hence no power amp require and the requirement for a stand alone processor. Music is mostly going to clasical & 80's pop & light rock

I would look at an Anthem MRX 300 as a pre especially as you suggest your main use would be movies, its got a great room correction (ARC) built in. Made so much difference to my setup
