Wull. I'll get some shots into my gallery or shall I start a crm4 thread.

Oh, and you are more than welcome to mine if ever you find yourself on a trip to the south coast!

Hi Nick I am glad you are pleased with your upgrade I loved it and I also loved it's performance with 2 Chanel music .
A bit sad now it's gone but I can say for sure it's the finest processor I have had in my room so far.
What next? I now have ADA in my blood but the Datasat is a tempting proposition ( can it get any better than the rhapsody) that's what's tempting .
Best wishes Andy

Don't be sad andy, I am super happy! Lol

And I think Ada, like ab international, owe adam a free pro by now. I wonder how many people have purchased their Ada's, blind, due to Adams great reports.

But adam, your not allowed cinema reference! ha ha

I do feel I owe adam a great debt of gratitude for all his time and effort he has put in. Not only in reviewing but also helping others whom have taken the leap. I think if I had not have stumbled upon this site and Adams blogs then my home theatre would be heading in a different direction and probably not at the level it's at now.

Anyone thought about upgrading their 1.3 processor to 1.4?

I am not interested in 3D but Graham stated that these are the following upgrades:

New DSP cards, and features are now enabled such as Dolby Volume and subroutines.
Better PEQ, new setup software, latest Dolby surround libraries and DTS libraries.
General enhancements and updated control protocol and IP interface.
And of course full support for HDMI 3D signals and V1.4 support.
Additional analogue signal protection circuits and further grounding improvements.
Quite a lot of work to add all that as it is a hardware change as well..

As you can see this is not just a 1.4 upgrade!

As you can see this is not just a 1.4 upgrade..... Sounds like a popular advert...... Lol

Be interesting to see what others think, but IMO, if one is not interested in 1.4 then I would say spend the money else where. Perhaps a power regenerator will produce even better improvements at much lower cost?

Dolby volume I do not think you'll use.

Better control protocols and ip interfaces seem a moot point to me as us being the end user not the custom installer we do not have the software to see these benefits...

The new dsp improvements etc are going to deliver perhaps single percentage figures of improvement. If indeed it is quantifiable.

I personally can not see if its worth it. Ill pose the question over on AVS and see if any of the us members have done the upgrades and find their thoughts.

In my opinion save the money and put it towards the Rhapsody, I think Nick will agree. At least the
money spent will be a step up in sound quality rather than unused features and set up aids.
Once these are installed correctly forget about tinkering you can just sit back and enjoy the movie ( but still thinking can the Reference really be much better than this ) lol :-)

Well andy, you mention reference. You heard what Dirac did for datasat. I understand trinnov is the next level again.

So I'll wager yes, the reference really can be better.

I'll keep the crm4 praises to another thread.

Happy to report, I got away with re positioning my surround and back speakers. I am now using the Dolby 7.1 recommend configuration.

'Straw dogs' last night sounded fantastic. So far very positive results.

Hello. I've not posted here for a while.

I watched AKIRA in DDTHD@192 kHz and my suite 7.1HD was able to play only the DIRECT 7.1 DSP. My unit is HDMI 1.3 but it is up to date regarding the firmwares (update done by ADA). The player is an OPPO BD93.

Have you experienced the same behaviour with this Blu-ray or another DDTHD 5.1@192 kHz ?

Thanks

Regards

Hello.

I'm looking for RS232 port specification of the suite 7.1HD. I mean baud rate, parity, stop bit and so on.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What is your opinion ?

Thanks

So Nick, tell us about the Trinnov you have, I take it it isn't an ADA TEQ?

Hi,

No it is the trinnov mc that I have ATM.

I will be making a thread in this section when I get a chance.

Stunning is not the word. The imaging is just sublime. Bass handling makes audyssey seem like an afterthought. It reall does take the sq to a whole new level.

Will I buy it... Well I am still undecided.

Thread coming soon.

Nick, is this MC4 or 8? I was split between the MC8 and the TEQ but here in Australia MC is more expensive. I was looking to buy the MC8 with digital and analog inputs but the pricing is very complicated and you have to pay for some additional licenses which made it nearly 50% more. Presently there are not many receivers with digital outputs and I settled for the TEQ. My dealer also mentioned that MC8 is more a commercial unit and that is why the pricing was more complicated.
My contact from Europe told me that in Europe MC is cheaper and this makes it a great value since seems to be a better machine (seperate power supply, faster processor).

Hi Kamenoff, hope you are well.

This is the mc8. In the trinnov range I believe the trinnov mc4 is called the st2 or st2 hifi.

And yes the mc8 has quite a bit more to it than a teq. It really is meant for studio use but also for the discerning home cinema enthusiast.

If anything it's an amazingly good pre amp.

And this one is a real steel at the price. With full lisence for 8 analogue i/o and 8 digi I/o.

The CPU seams very fast indeed. It has crashed on me a few times but this is during heavey fiddling about. A quick reset sorts things. Most likely down to the vnc client / iPad issue.

I will get my report up next week once I have decided whether I can keeping it or not.

Chaps as interesting as it is this really is not on topic is it, I suggest for future please open up new threads to discuss the relevant kit above.

Thanks.

Well, I think I am pretty happy with my PEQ results, or at least got it as good as my Audyssey multi eq unit could. This time I did as Neil suggested, I kept Audyssey and the PEQ seperate. I had tried boosting the LF a little on my last attempt, but over time it became quite apparent this was not working, so I have left the Sub pro alone to do what it does best.

I spent all day yesterday swapping back and forth, PEQ then Audyssey 'multi' EQ, I can say there was hardly anything between the two, to a point where I removed the Audyssey unit from circuit as I felt I could not hear any change when using the 'bypass' on/off switch on the front of the multi EQ, it was that close. I did come to the conclusion, if anything there was slightly more bass with Audyssey. 'I was only testing 80hz up'

So I have decided I may as well put my multi eq unit up for sale. If you can not be bothered using the PEQ, then this could be for you.

Hi Wull.

You should keep your audyssey a while because I made the same conclusion as you when I was comparing PEQ and Audyssey but after 5 or 6 movies with only the PEQ I decided to put Audyssey once again to see and finally I kept it because sound was better.

Cheers Alex, I will do this. I was going to contact you as i know you have spent a lot of time comparing the two.
I'm in no rush to sell, this may actually make me appreciate what it can do like the first time I hooked it up to ADA.

My Dad came round today for his first listen to the ADA. Now, it's a good 2 hour + drive one way for him, he is whom inspired me into HiFi, I mean, how many Dad's buy you a set of speakers for your ninth birthday and nothing else 'full stop.', the amp was to come the next year! So his comments/reactions where closely watched.

I would like to add, he is at that age where once comfy can quite easily full a sleep, especially after a long drive. Not today my fellow ADA owners, he was blown away, in fact his own words where 'quite amazing'. That will do for me, oh happy days.
