DTS and DD to analogue...

Hi all,

This is my first post so please be kind ! I have managed to persuade a friend of mine to part with some cash and upgrade his TV viewing experience (I think through my own enthusiasm for these things).

The budget is an issue. So far he has a 32inch full HD Samsung tv, and a WD TV media player (quite impressed with that thing), with sound going to some Altec Lancing 2.1 speakers via a headphone jack.

The problem is, some of the MKV files I have only seem to ouput sound via the optical out in DTS 5.1 format, so he gets nothing but silence.

What's the cheapest way to get the DTS optical audio converted to a analogue stereo output?

PLEASE HELP!

Re: DTS and DD to analogue...

I am pretty sure that the WD allows for down sampling, meaning 5.1 to 2.0..
This should be enable in settings, instead of digital, just set it as stereo..
Then hook up the WD to the Panel via RCA ins..

And welcome to the forums..

Hope this helps..

Re: DTS and DD to analogue...

Yeah, I tried that. That didn't work.

It only outputs via the optical port.

Any other suggestions??

Re: DTS and DD to analogue...

I would suggest doing a search on WD TV in the thread search as they will have the info you require...
