Processor Recommendations (replace a 1068 processor)

My existing rotel 1068 processor recently got involved with a power surge and lost the battle (the DAC's have blown).

It will cost about £200 to send it to Rotel to fix it and i was wondering if anyone could recommend an upgrade option. I could stretch to maybe £400 and would get a second hand one but am not sure whats around for that much. I only have five speakers so 7.1 is not a consideration but HDMI would be nice.

HDMI? £400? You'll be lucky. I should try to get down to Canterbury HiFi and see if they have any Rotels left for sale. They had some great bargains recently.

HDMI is preferable not essential

Canterbury have the RSP1069 for £439. That has HDMI V1.1 inputs that accept LPCM audio. I read a pro review of the RSP1570 that said it sounded no different to the RSP 1069. And they do have strangely similar front and rear panels.

Thanks but I live in north west London and they don't mail order the ex demo units plus i don't drive. But if anyone knows of any similar deals i would appreciate it
