Hi,

Can anyone suggest a high quality pre/headphone amp.

It will connect to my E-mu 1212m soundcard and then feed my power amps in my main system, but I also need a high power headphone amp.

I'm looking for something along the lines of the Sugden Headmaster, but perhaps something with a better pre-amp.

I would probably only be able to afford something used.

Useless Inc. - Headphones and the arcane art of sound

I run one of these, has pre amp out as well which will give a real nice warm sound to a power amp..
I run some HD 600s, and they are real hard to drive.
300 ohms.
The amp puts out 1 w at 150 ohm I get 500 mw @ 300 ohm..

Good matched pair/combo I have..

If you're looking for a high quality Pre/Headphone amp you need to checkout these two options.

I have the Phoenix and can recommend it both as a pre and as a headphone amp.

Certainly, the DAC1 Pre is the best that I have experienced to date... I would highly recommend.
