Arcam p7 problem

What's the point in trying to choose a new preamp when your power amp stops working?

Hopefully someone can help - all the lights on my p7 keep going red with one flashing orange - no sound - any ideas of what is wrong, the solution and cost?

Many thanks

Re: Arcam p7 problem

As per manual:

LED status
During power up or normal operation, one LED is flashing amber, with the remaining LEDs solid red

Description
An over temperature fault has reoccurred on the same channel within 12 seconds of a previous over temperature fault clearance. The flashing amber LEDs represent the amplifier modules with an over temperature fault.

Amplifier action
The amplifier shuts down. The power switch must be cycled to reset the amplifier (cycling the trigger resets the amplifier).

Hope that helps.

Re: Arcam p7 problem

First off, check that there are no stray strands of speaker wire that could short the channel. Check both the amp and the speaker ends.

Do you have the recommended clearance around the P7, and is the amp in a well ventilated location, e.g. not in a closed cupboard?

If it happens again, get the P7 repaired. If you're lucky it's still under guarantee (you have 5 years).
