Power amp for Rega Mira 2000

Hello,
I recently purchased a second hand Rega Mira 2000 Amplifier for my hi fi but as good as it sounds, i worry it is too weak to push my speakers (B&W 685s).
My conclusion is to get a power amp but i have no idea about such things and wanted to know if i mattered what one i got?
Should i go for a Rega Maia? or will another brand give me something even better?
Perhaps i should get rid of the Rega Mira and get a more powerful integrated amp instead, like the Roksan Kandy?
Thanks for any advice you can give me

Tom

If you like the Rega sound you have, demo a rega power amp or two(Exons)

Re: Power amp for Rega Mira 2000

Hi, thanks for replying.
As much as i would like to be able to spend £700 or so on a power amp, its never gonna happen.
Im really looking for a solution for a max of about £200
so if its not a goer then maybe i am better off with a different integrated amp?

Re: Power amp for Rega Mira 2000

I just noticed an ARCAM DiVA P75 POWER AMPLIFIER on ebay for about £100.
Would that be any good? or would it ruin the sound?

Re: Power amp for Rega Mira 2000

Does not P75 mean 75Watts?
If it does, not much different to the Mira....

I'd say Rega and Arcam sound different, possibly quite nice depending on ears, using one as a pre and one as a power, but, bi-amping hmmmm would be interesting. You never know you might like it

Re: Power amp for Rega Mira 2000

Thats the question really. Does mixing amps make for a mess or a good sound?
the Rega is only really 30w so anything more will make a difference.
can you add the power of a power amp to your existing amp?
How are Rotel Power amps?

thanks

I think it sounds rather strange biamping with different make amps, but someone may like it....

If the Arcam is 75W then use the rega as a pre and the Arcam as a power, could always try the Arcam for the bass and the rega for the top...

Rotel sound different again, depends what your after in your sound.

May be an idea to go to richer sounds and demo a few amps to get an idea as to what the different makes sound like, and if you hear no difference mix and match as much as you like

Re: Power amp for Rega Mira 2000

The problem with using two different (makes) of amp to bi-amp is mainly down to one (possibly) amplifying the signal more than the other amp if the "gain" of the two amps don't match.

Secondly you have the problem that the actual sound coming from two amps may be different.

If you need more power for your speakers (and you don't necessarily), then I would look at a single higher powered amp and use the Rega as a pre-amp, OR you could possibly get a gain matched Rega Power-amp and use the integrated and power-amp to bi-amp. An Arcam P75 could well sound different powering the Bowers and Wilkins 685 ... but not necessarily better.
