No but does this mean they are gonna make a pre-amp now?
I have just heard this week too that Arcam will now provide a 5 year warrenty with all goods sold, which pees me off as within the last four weeks i bought a cd33 and a32?

John D would you be gracious enough to extend my warrenty (before i buy 2 P35 power amps)?

Yeah the preamp is called C30 and should be something special when paired with the P1 monoblocks. Still can't find any details about either though.

Publishing these specs is fairly high up in the queue of jobs associated with maintaining the Arcam website; expect to see information there in about 1 week.

In the meantime if anyone urgently needs PDFs of these new product specs please PM me with your normal e-mail address and I'll get them sent on to you.

I believe the C30 lists at £1199 in the UK and the monoblocks at £1099 each.

John

Have you had a proper listern to the new P1 in action. If so does it basically sound like one of the channels from the P7 amp or is it something new altogether?

Any chance of you slipping them under your jacket before you head off to The Event II...?

I will try to bring a pair along to the Event in Guildford. It is up to Gordon and team to see if they could be demoed (probably a bit of a tall order given all the other things going on). But at least I can talk people through it, pop the hood (as our American cousins say) and so on.

I have heard P1s in action here and they are excellent - and definitely better than the P7 channels (which are pretty good anyway I think we can all agree). The design is based on the P7 topology but with a bigger box, more heatsink space and more PCB space available we have been able to refine and improve that design in many areas. And a humungous toroidal power transformer dedicated to just one channel helps too!

I will also try to take an engineering sample of the AVR300 to Guildford - not for demo though as it is a work in progress.

The bulk of the rooms at Event2 are using Active monitor speakers so power amps not required. I will have a think though..

John is correct though...I have alot going on!

I listened to the CD33/C30/monoblocks at the What Hi-Fi Show (sorry!) a few weeks ago for quite a bit of time - the room was tiny and the acoustics awful - but the sound coming from these units was really very impressive - great resolution and great synergy between the units - of course the Verity Audio Parsifals didn't do any harm - but I'm certainly looking forward to having a more extended demo in due course...

For Black Magic and colleagues - as promised here are links on the Arcam site to the C30 preamplifier and P1 monobloc power amplifier:

http://www.arcam.co.uk/fmj/products/c30.html
http://www.arcam.co.uk/fmj/products/p1.html

These units are now shipping in the UK, though there is a short waiting list for new orders.

From the P1 blurb: "power is nothing without control" .....I believe that's the current ad slogan used by Pirelli tyres

Looking good though - may well be in the market for the C30 in the new year. The "budget" high-end pre-amp market is depressingly sparse at the moment :(
