Writing the review now for the three films, been working onit 5 hours so far, hard going.
As for the pic and sound, i don't think you will be disapointed.
The lets see it trailer is from 1999, but it has never been on a DVD, well apart from the THX demo disc;)
picture and sound are amazing though i need to watch it later (as i saw "the darkness" in concert last night and i still have a ringing in my ears and couldnt pin point any rear activity!)
but it does look like it was filmed yesterday!

just finished watching raiders, exceelnt stuff, the sound and pic was really good,i am watching ona 36" 100hz panny and the dvd pic quality was outstanding,i didnt see any artifacts or blemishes, also i didnt notice the layer change????first time thats ever happened, the sound in 5.1 was also impressive, just cant get the indy theme tune out of my head, glas that speilberg didnt mess about with the film also, still love the bit where indy leaves the camp on his horse to chase the nazis and on the way out the horse tramples on an extra!!at last one of my favorite films on dvd,now i think i'm in for a long long wait for my all time fav.:smashin:

would i be sad to buy the R2 and regret it all later.

go for the r1 version,if you order it from movietyme you'll proberly get it in a 3-4 days,i am a massive indy fan and have allways wanted the uncut temple of doom, the r2 will be cut.the bonus disc with the r1 is excellent too,the main documentary lasts for about 2 1/4 hours and covers all 3 movies, then there are featurettes totaling about 40 mins,an excellent boxset in my opinion.:smashin:

Mine has turned to packaging with DVD Soon, has anyone noticed they have charged us $5 shipping on the 58.98 price? even though i chose free shipping
But if you look at the price of the box set now its $63.98
so did they make a mistake and if you paid 58.98 u are charged the extra $5 in shipping?
EDIT just got an e mail saying it was shipped on the 9th :) not long now

if you buy the region 1 from cd-wow
will it be a genuine US jobby or will the case be filled with chinese writings etc ?
Why is R2 being cut? I'm pretty sure I remember seeing the video rental in the 80's and IIRC the heart ripping scene and the guy lowered into the lava weren't cut.
The end of Raiders was also very cool when the Nazi's melted and the baddy aged really fast!

well I've never been a big fan of Raiders so wasn't overly thrilled at the prospect of a boxset of movies I may not even get round to watching..but after reading THX 1138's review..I just ordered it. Nice write up mate, thankyou.:)

I emailed CD-wow and asked this very question about a month or so ago..I was told they would be supplying US versions.

Neither, it's status is 'Order taken'.
Not released 'til 20/10.
I've never received a pre order from Play either on or before the official release date so I'm not holding my breath.

Dam,
I got mine on pre order with amazon.co.uk since when i pre-ordered it with them it was still £35 at play. If you would have said it's been posted by play i would i cancelled my amazon order and gone for play. I have had about 10 R2 dvd's from play before they release date. I hope the R2 boxsets start getting dispached soon since i really wanna see Indy. I dont have a clue weather amazon post before release i hope they do.:god:
Ive got the R1 boxset on order for myself from CD-Wow, and the R2 boxset on order for my brother from play.com, both ordered on the same day..lets see who gets them here first..;)

My R1 was shipped from cdwow on thursday, i'd expect to recieve it next week.
Aren't there any laws with release dates in the UK as far as the R2 version is concerned?
Dont think so, though I may be wrong..look what happened with LOTR TTT..everyone and his uncle was selling it before official release date..

There's no "law", just a "gentleman's agreement" between the distributors and the retailers.

I must admit to being completely surprised at everyone's praising of this boxset.
First off Raiders is my favourite film of all time. I love the indy films. Thought the picture and sound on these DVD's were great.
However, the boxset is a huge disappointment. The extras are poor. The documentaries are so sparse as they comment on all three films instead of an individual treatment thus leaving so much out. The only interesting part was the screen test with Tom Selleck.
There are no deleted scenes to speak of. No commentary (spielberg does not surprise us then). There are so many deleted classic scenes from raiders and they briefly mention only one that is the most uninteresting.
I was very disappointed...
Have a look at this website for a lot more interesting points about all 3 films and you'll see exactly what I mean by what they failed to include. Check out the infamous submarine cut sequence.

Frankly I don't really care, I have three of my favourite movies in glorious 5.1, with excellent video transfers...

Agreed i bought for 3 of my all time favourite films remastered in superb 5.1 sound not to watch hours and hours of extras althugh i think there very good anyway
Okay,
I understand the films are the most important thing. But reviews of the extras have been giving it 9/10.
If you check out the website I posted up and had a look at Raiders for instance I guarantee you would become interested and annoyed that such interesting facts were ommitted from a classic trilogy...
is the region 2 version really cut?
or are people just assuming this is the case?
enquiring minds need to know!
thx.

Assuming the R2 version is cut and my dislike of NTSC discs (only because my old DVD player doesn't handle it too well) I'll go for the R4 version if it's uncut. Any recommendations on where I should get it from so I don't get hit for customs and/or just the cheapest Aussie e-tailer?
Try:
Ezydvd (http://www.ezydvd.com.au/)
Only Aussie e-tailer I've used; always been good. They even changed a dvd I found to be faulty a year after buying it!
