can be had in the UK for between £550 and £700 for the JVC-DH30000U, this is the one most have. If you want to play the pre-recorded D-Theater tapes this and the just released 40000 are the only ones that play them as far as I know

on the subject Gary, whereabouts in Surrey are you. I live in Farnborough, you would be more than welcome to come and have a demo of one in action (and a coffee) Also units will be shown/demoed at The Event II..

There's no current offical UK supply, as I'm told they're not CE certified yet. As soon as they are they will be 'officially' available from most AV dealers. I'm waiting to hear more news on monday.

The new JVC 40k deck can now output dts aswell dd.
Now lets just hope the studio's bring out the films.
The new Marantz MV8300 D-VHS deck can also play D-theater tapes, I think it's based on the jvc 40k.

Museum Steve,
I saw my first D-VHS at RTFMs place in Horsham on the Sim Domino and Link models. Outstanding quality is an understatement! I have tried a couple of clips on my HT1000 via HTPC, and I was equaly impressed. Hence my interest.
Until now, I've not seen the need for higher res pjs or a faster htpc. Hi Def changes that of course. I can easily upgrade the pc though.
If Micro$oft start releasing Hi Def via DVD like T2 Extreme edition, I'll definately buy them. I just hope they sort out the on-line registration crap though.
I'm Surrey/ South London borders, so not too far from you. Have you got Bikini Destinations? Worth it's wight in gold I must say!
Gary.
