Shawshank Redemption - new R2 version?

There's a new region 2 version of The Shawshank Redempton out, anyone know if the transfer is any better than the previous R2 release? http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page...2&title=132318

I've seen it before and enjoyed the film but I don't actually own it. The previous R2 release has terrable PQ - look at this http://folk.uio.no/ulfb/odd/Shawshank/shawshank.htm

The region 1 looks good PQ from those shots, but should I wait for the 10th Anniversary edition with 5.1 that I think Empire were bangin' on about? Or should I just get the R1?

I think the new version available from play is just
a re-packaging of the film that's been out a while.
I have the R2 copy and i'm quite happy with the picture
quality. OK, it might not be the best transfer, but i've seen
a lot worse.
The 10th anniversary edition is due out next year and, from
what i've read, it looks a corker.
If you enjoyed the film and can't wait till next year then get it now. If, like me, you enjoy the film that much then you won't mind
shelling out again for a better version in the future.

The R1 version of The Shawshank Redemption is currently available in 1.85:1 anamorphic and has a 5.1 dolby digital soundtrack but nothing really in the way of extras. If (as bowenjones mentioned) your just interested in the film then I suppose that it's as good a copy to get as any, I've certainly been happy with my copy... however (as bowenjones also mentioned) the 10th anniversary edition does look rather nice indeed!! and I for one will be upgrading when it's released.

If your interested in the currently available R1 version, it's here for about £10 (give or take a couple of pence)

Warner snapper alert! 'spose it'd be worth a tenner though.
