What does Hybird/CD/Sacd mean. I am thinking of buying the police Every Breath You Take classics for £9.99 from play and it has this in the normal cd list but does not have it in super audio cds.

There a 3 types of Super Audio CD:

1. Single layer high-density SACD
2. Dual layer high-density SACD
3. Dual layer with 1 CD layer and 1 high density SACD layer

The Hybrid SACD is the third variety which has both a CD recording and a SACD recording on the same disc.
The CD layer can be played on normal CD players but the SACD layer requires a SACD player (or DVD player with SACD playback abilities).

Is one type superior to the others?

The sound quality will potentially be the same regardless of which SACD disc type is used.

I say potentially because the quality of the actual recordings is down to the recording methods (new DSD recordings are going to have much higher quality than a recording made from 20-30 year old master tapes.)

Not all SACD's will be of the same quality just as not all CD's are of the same quality.

The other thing which makes a big difference is when they release a SACD with both a 2 channel and 5.1 channel mix of the same songs on a disc.
