I want a head unit that plays mp3 files burnt onto dvd.

My reason is that I like to listen audio books in mp3 format in the car. My current sony head unit is great but sometimes needs a few cds for the bigger books such as tom clancy stuff.

Does such a thing exist?

Having had a quick look on a couple of sites, namely pioneer and panasonic, it doesn't look like it.

Wouldn't have thought it was far off though, just needs to be added to car dvd players.

Could you not reduce the bitrate of your mp3's, you shouldn't need a lot for spoken word, and you may be able to get a book on less cd's.

Personally though i don't know how you can listen to a book while driving, i'd always be missing bits and not concentrating enough to pick up the storyline. But anyway, I digress.
