I spotted WOTG in the 5 for £30 sale in Virgin the other day & noticed the writer from Usual Suspects wrote & directed it (McQuarrie ?)
I wasnt expecting too much but kinell is this the film with the loudest gun battles ever !!!
WOTG didnt skimp on the swearing & gore either - I suspect McQuarrie was influenced by Pekinpah (?)
My only complaint would be the middle section when not much happens (I think they call it a story or something )
Anyway a real cracker IMHO especially at £5.99 ... Paul ;)

I picked it up in the Virgin sale as well.
Not a bad film at all. I think the swearing at the start is a bit over the top. My wife wasn't too impressed with some of the language, but fortunately I persuaded her to keep watching.
After the first 5 mins or so the language thins out a bit and it turns into a good film.
Just be warned though, the first few minutes of the film really will be an assault on the ears!
I got this ages and ages ago...... bought it along side requiem for a dream...... both are seriously good films!

Bursar - Quite right about the verbal onslaught at the start - well over the top but after that the swearing is pretty appropriate ...

Isn't that the one to do with the surrogate mum, gangsters and the two who kidnap here?

Yes it is Guy:)
I really loved this film on first viewing and still like it. The opening scene is superbly funny and not too much in my view, having been on the town as it were. Things viewed with women often make them seem harder than are.
There are some great performances in this and set pieces. Well worth the song it goes for now.
I posted the opening scene in the favourite film scene thread. It is not PC but shows the boys will do anything to stand their ground.

There was, don't know what happened to it. The movie is however available on Japanese R2 in DTS, might have to check it out.

I know what you mean by 'the loudest gun battles'. The sound effect that they've used for the actual gunshots is superb - it really 'jarrs' you and grabs your attenyion. By the end of the final shoot out scene I was exhausted !
I did not enjoy the film a great deal, although I've started to get into it a bit more on repeat viewings. I think because the two main characters are so heartless it's hard to feel any sympathy for their plight - although they do try and redeem themselves at the end.

WOTG is a superb film. It blew me away when I saw it at the flicks, I'd never been much of a fan of The Usual Suspects but I found the story and levels of violence to be way beyond any expectations I may have had.
The film doesn't really have any sympathetic characters in it, in my mind, even Juliet Lewis fails to get me on her side. I find myself rooting for the bad boys all the way through, and the ending is suitably "Wild Bunch".
I really like the music too.
