I've bought a lovely Netgem iPlayer partly due to the 'plug it into broadband' capability, but to be honest I'm a loss to work out how this is possible.
I have a rj45 running to my tv cabinet from a router. The only input sockets into the iplayer are a standard phone line and a usb. The Frenchy technical support suggested plugging in the box to my router using a usb cable but as with most routers, there is no usb port on it.

Wow have other owners got this working with adsl through a router?

waldopepper, if you have ethernet running to your iplayer then you can connect it to the iplayer via a "usb to rj45 adapter".

The published list from the Netgem website of suitable usb adapters is:

Ethernet adaptor
Belkin F5D5050
Compex UE202 A
UE202 B
D-link DU E100
Ebuyer UE 120

Eg, from Ebuyer:

http://www.ebuyer.co.uk/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=27329

I think there are plenty of others which work (eg have a look on Digital Spy forums), but Netgem don't seem to keep their list of supported usb products up to date.

Hope this helps,
AJP.
