The R2 is on one disc, the R1 is on two discs. Therefore it's possible the R2 has a lower bitrate, and the R1 has a higher bitrate.

Rewind mention the R2 is the better version, but they don't compare the loss in picture quality (trying to squeeze longer running times onto a single disc)

Don't use EX/ES and all that.. just 7.1 Logic 7!

My copy arrived this morning via CD Wow. R1, but it doesn't actually state DTS on the box. I take it that it just does have it anyway?

BTW, I think I have the Canadian version.

According to DVD empire, it has DTS, and little DTS on the box, with DTS 5.1 on the back.

I just rented the R2 version from Blockbusters: 2 disks and the 5.1 DTS soundtrack is lovely. Quality film too.

Thanks. I couldn't check it as my kit is all over the place at the moment. I take it your case 'doesn't' state it has DTS either?

Can't, my kit is not connected. I'm in the middle of selling/buying new kit. I have no amps.

The picture bit rate on the R2 runs at an average of 7kbps and very nice it's looks too on my 32" widescreen TV. No dts ES that i can see.

Anyone know the average bit-rate of the R1 version? Was it really spread over two discs to give better picture? Or was it because of multi-lingual DTS or somesuch?

Puzzled over which version to buy? Or even if to buy at all (haven't seen it yet).
