Has anyone purchased the above disc yet? If so what do you think of the picture quality?

Cheers

Good picture, shame about the edge enhancement. Looks OK on similar contrast shots- ie a WAF in front of the grass or buildings- however when a plane is silhouetted against the sky there's the ugly halo effect.

Sound is OK for mono.

I agree, its not great, but its the best we are gonna get.

At least its OAR, but apparently the have played around with some of the music and end credits.

hi all , why do they do this to these great war movies such as the battle and others in the set . they should be dealt with more care
they are not that old, which seems to be their way of using bad prints and getting away with it.I bet they do the same to where eagles dare. And yes we get a trailer if we are lucky. sorry all had to let of steam after watching battle which is not as good a the lazer.lets hope they get the spec on dvd one day.

Simon p - he said nothing about the print being bad. Or the amount of extras. He talked about bad edge enhancement and they apply it to 95% of all DVDs !!!

This is one of the earliest movies of going to the 'pictures' that has left a lasting memory of the initial viewing.

Superb film

Instead of launching a new thread, i desided to add my thoughts on this one.

Just watched this great film and it does look fine.
For a film thatīs 34 years old it looks GREAT.
On the other hand location captions are MISSING ,all of them.
That i find annoying especially the dates and places missing.
I find this strange because they are not in the subtitle stream either.
And this is a new trend for MGM in the US.
We have seen them do this with region 2 releases(Terminator anyone):nono:
Anyway, a great film,higly recommended
