I remember seeing a standalone digital still photo frame. Basically a little LCD/TFT display that you could download stills into.

I quite fancy one of these but can't seem to find them anywhere.

Any ideas?

I figured you lot in here would be a bit more clued up that the digital photography forum,

In Sony shop San Fransisco, I saw Sony's one that accepts Sony Memory Sticks. Quite cute. Don't know if it's available in Europe.

They've come a long way lately - have a look at a selection at www.fototech.co.uk

still kinda expensive though. The diy one is effectively a PC in a frame!
Can't say I'm all that happy with how any of these look.
They are all still pretty expensive.

Shame I'd love one for my desk.

It seems to me that they are trying to overkill by making each unit into a tv as well, all the ones I looked have have a tuner and and speakers etc etc, just a simple photo frame with a memory slot would be great.

just been looking into the DIY one and it seems I can buy a lot of the parts in the Uk for about £350. The mobo, 2.5"HD (40gig) 512Meg ram and power supply all come to about £250 from http://www.itx-warehouse.co.uk and then I can buy a 14" LCD screen from Pcworld for £100.....

the cogs are now grinding away.....

Cheers

That article is about a year old now , its way , way ,way ,beyond me .
Its priced in $ as well. I figured it could probably be done for half the quoted price , if not less .
Some little gems come up every now and again on there , like how to enable "launch control" on a BMW M3
Good luck
John
