Hi all, just wondering what sort of height some of you plasma owners have your screens wall mounted at, and any associated problems that may have arisen.

I have a completely blank wall with no dado rail or intrusive radiators fires etc that mine will be going on (hitachi c42pd3000) but want to try and make sure I do it right first time.

My main concern is "wife getting a pain in the neck" literally.

It might sound a bit daft but get yourself a large piece of card and make a template roughly the same size as the screen and try sticking it to the wall with bluetak at various heights and then looking at it from your actual seating position.

I initially set mine too high and recently lowered it by about 6 inches. I'd say the bottom of the panel is now about 4 feet from the ground and I find this much better.

Cheers, Lee

Have a look at the pics in the "for the lads" threads for some ideas at least about te aesthetics. Great idea to use a template and bluetac.

Mine is set fairly high but doesn't present any issues. In fact it actually forces the kids to watch from a safe distance. Previously, they would have their noses up to the screen when I wasn't watching them.

I'd suggest that viewing distance, and therefore, angle at which you have to view the screen at will be your biggest factor to consider

As regards viewing angle, do all wall mounts have a tilt facility as I maybe wrongly assuming thats what meant by sorting out the viewing angle? Viewing distance will not be a problem.

The wallmount I have coming is the hitachi pwt001, can anyone advise if this has a tilt facility? Getting mine from dabs.com and it does not mention it on their site info, also went to Hitachi europe site but I could find no reference to wall mounts on there at all.

The making a template and using blue tac is a great idea (why did I not think of that).

The viewing angle I refer to is the one which dictates how far up your eyes have to go from your normal sitting position. Most TV's are about horizontal when placed on a TV table. Your wall mounted plasma can also be this, or it can have a much higher angle.

The tilt angle on the bracket just helps to present the screen flat to you at you normal viewing angle. Mine is quite high and also flat to the wall. No issues at all since the viewing angle of a plasma is so wide anyway.
