Wifi enabled touch sensitive MP3 Jukebox screen?

I hope this is a decent place to ask.

I have several sets of good Mission speakers around the house (some rooms even with sub woofers!) cabled with good quality cable to a central amplifier which is fed from my PC. I can select and play MP3s around the house but I obviously have to go to the PC to select the music. In an ideal world I'd like a touch sensitive wifi screen to control the music remotely. I don't want a free-standing jukebox with it's own integrel amp - just a "remote controller". I have tried adding a video sender to the output of my PC and viewing it on remote TV's and controling the pc with remote controls via powermids but this is an inelegant and clumsy solution.

Can anyone point me to a touch sensitive wifi enabled screen or an alternative way of doing this please?

Not touch screen but....

My suggestion would be to do the following:

1) Download and install SqueezeCenter on the PC from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
2) Purchase a Squeezebox Duet (Controller alone or the Controller+Receiver pack) - see https://www.ripcaster.co.uk/node/282
3) Connect the Duet Receiver to your multi-room amp (or use the free SoftSqueeze application to output via the PC sound card if you only have the Duet Controller).
4) You will then be able to control the music using the Duet Controller throughout your home (within WiFi range).

Hope that helps -

If you use iTunes on your PC the iPod Touch and iPhone now have an excellent free remote application from Apple which directly controls your itunes library on your PC via wi-fi with full touch screen browsing. It works extremely well indeed.

Re: Wifi enabled touch sensitive MP3 Jukebox screen?

I would suggest either buying a Nokia 770/N800 or an IPhone/Ipod Touch. My personal preference would be for the latter (based on experience with the 770 and opinion on forums), but you may be able to pick up the Nokias cheaper and that may sway your decision.

If you're using Itunes I would definitely be tempted by the ipods/iphones as - as someone posted - they can now control itunes remotely.

If not then I see one of two options - my preference would be for the 1st as its a more elegant solution:

1) Install SqueezeCentre on your PC. You can then connect to this PC via the web on the touchscreen nokias or via the IPeng plugin/skin with the apples. You can then control playback and selection of songs from here. Apparently the IPeng skin is very good and easier to use than the nokias and should get better now that the Apple SDK is out.

2) If you don't want to install SqueezeCentre and want to use your existing media software then you can connect to your computer desktop via VNC and this will be displayed on your nokia/apple for you to control remotely.

Re: Wifi enabled touch sensitive MP3 Jukebox screen?

I use a Sumo Tablet PC (with 9" tocuscreen). It connects to my main wireless router & I run Nordbeat Touchscreen Jukebox. I can then select albums, songs, playlists etc on the mobile unit which then streams the audio through my surround system in the lounge.

Hope that helps....
