Buying Optoma HD65 - What Screen Should I Get?

Hi, I'm about to buy my first projector, and have chosen to get the Optoma HD65.

I want some advice on what type of screen to get for this model.

I have a budget of £200 to spend.

A good quality motorized screen would be good but I would be happy with a manual screen if it was better quality.

The throw distance is 9 1/2 feet in the room.

Thanks for the help

Welcome to the forums ReDsHiFt1. I've moved the thread to projection screens where you should get some advice.

For starters it could be worth having a look at some of the threads on the following list to see if there is anything useful

Optoma HD65

Hi All

I am looking at getting the Optoma HD65 as my first projector. Does anyone have any ideas on what type of screen and screen size will suite this one best ie: grey or white screen?

Thanks Guys

I think as more threads/posts are added it makes search links invalid and a new search is needed. If you type HD65 into search you will get the latest results.

Im thinking of getting the Saphire electric screen you have echosat, can you tell me is the fabric totally wrinkle free? Quiet motor? How long does it take to come down? How long is the top border? Cheers mate.

Re: Buying Optoma HD65 - What Screen Should I Get?

On these electric screens with the black drop at the top can you allow just a small black drop at the top or does the screen only come ALL the way down? If it came all the way down it would be too low for me.

Re: Buying Optoma HD65 - What Screen Should I Get?

Most electrc screens including the Sapphire Mayfair screens you mention have limit switches built in where you can detemine where the screen stops inluding allowing the smallest amount of black border to show at the top.
This is an additional feature to the wall switch/remote control. When set, you press the down button on your screen and it stops where you programmed it to.
Hope this helps.

Re: Buying Optoma HD65 - What Screen Should I Get?

@Bahrtez

If you already know what sort of length you require the top border to be, ask your supplier to set it for you.

If you know what you're doing, setting the limits is easy. If you're new to it, it can be a nightmare.

I have seen too many screens require a return or an intervention after somebody gave it a try. Plus some motors aren't perfectly aligned to the holes in the case, making it difficult if not impossible to do any adjustment.

Here's a video to show you how it's done, but check with the manufacturere/supplier to get the instructions on how it's done. The principle is the same, though:

Good luck,

Otto

AV Nik and OTTO, thank you kindly for taking the time to respond. At least I now know they can actually be adjusted.

Thanks for the video link as well.

You have both been extremely helpful and informative.

Re: Buying Optoma HD65 - What Screen Should I Get?

im using one of these, from this place http://www.morecomputers.com/extra.a...eferer=Froogle

its the 3rd screen ive had in under a year and by far the best .... a steal at this price, and it arrived next day aswell, so fantastic service to boot.

every screen ive had has rippled in a day or 2, but this one has been up 2 weeks and is still straight as an arrow
