Re: Best Media Streamer for WiFi to FreeNAS
There are.
I have a Philips Streamium SL400i which has wireless, although I have not turned that on, it is wired to the router.
I have tried FreeNAS in a virtual machine on wy WinXP PC and decided I would be happy to use that, once I have a separate box to run it on. It can be configured for UPnP, which many media devices support.
SD video by Wi-Fi should be possible, it depends on the quality/bitrate of the particular file. DVD is bandwidth hungry, Freeview .ts files are typically half the bitrate of DVD (and therefore .MPG files converted from them are too), and divx/xvid are about half again so those should play without hiccup.
If you converted to divx during the transfer to the NAS unit, you would effectively double its capacity.
