11" screen at this moment until they figure out to make big screens, it is 'wafer' thin as Rene would say in 'Allo 'Allo :)

seen one too in sweden and the picture really is stunning!
its without doubt worth its big pricetag, but only if you have that kind of money "left over" so to speak.

Hmm, seems cool, but somebody needs to buy a camera stand...
I have seen a Sony OLED in London Heathrow at terminal 5 at the Sony Centre. The OLED was hooked to a PS3 and the picture was truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuly amazing.
It was not only me who was blown away, even my wife noticed that the picture quality is step ahead of any other current tv screen available.
Can't wait to see seem rolling onto the market.
last word in the Sony shop was that the OLED screens are on sale in Japan.

It certainly is, I saw one in the Sony shop in Providence Place Mall, Providence, Rhode Island. Price tag is a bit steep at $2,400!!!!

Home Cinema Choice have got a good write-up on this little beast in this month's issue. They rate it bigstyle !! Apparently the pixel response times are measured in microseconds - not milliseconds .1000 times faster than current LCD panels.

This will be the new Sony Trinitron of flat panels no doubt.
Ive just came back from las vegas and they had one there on sale at the sony shop for 2100 dollars
yes it looked superb, but lets remember its only 11 inch wide
i have a 20 inch sony trinitron crt that knocks spots off most plasmas and all lcds

Five years time, I hope to have a 50" one of these adorning my livingroom wall to replace my plasma. Five years from now, I might be able to afford it too. :P
In case anyone's interested, there's a new handheld games console coming out of Korea with an OLED screen:

It'd be nice if Sony would make a PSP with one of these things so I can replace my current one which has a broken UMD drive.

OLED is amazing for many reasons, one being the problems with backlighting don't exist. My first OLED device was a mp3 player. Even though that's a light year away from a proper TV screen I was amazed at the clarity, contrast and brightness.
And of course batteries last longer because there's no hungry backlighting 'cos OLED emits its own light. Not that you'd expect to run a 27"+ screen from a battery but certainly smaller screens are needed for portable devices. I have to stick with LCD for the next 3-4 years though. I can't see OLED hitting the same price points until then, sadly.

Hello,
What mp3 player was that? what other mp3 players or mobile phones you know that have oled screens?

It's one of those Far East makes - "mp man". I've seen a few MP4 video players in the past 6 months that have full colour OLED screens, albeit only 2". They're quite cheap because of their unbranded Chinese origins.
Check this out from China - £25 for a 1.5" OLED video player watch!

Or £19 for a 1.8" OLED MP4 player: http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/pName/cool-design-mp4-player-1gb-18-inch-screen/
Yeah it would have been great if they'd managed to get OLED into the PSP-3000, when I first heard they'd put in an improved screen, that's what I thought they'd done. Guess it must be still too expensive.

It's obvious that the first real use for these 11" screens is in new laptops.
My only gripe with my new Macbook (the black 13" one) is that the screen is absolutely atrocious. Couldn't believe how bad it is when i first got it.
A nice OLED macbook (or any laptop) would be just wonderful.

...and portable DVD and Blu Ray players. Many current laptops have really glossy screens which are terrible for creating distracting reflections, but with the improved contrast and brightness of OLED I'm hoping this trend will be reversed.
