VP30 reet poorly - update
Can't find my last thread so probably it's been tidied.
I thought I had mended my VP30 by doing a reboot to factory settings (power on + menu + exit) and indeed it went for a week or so with only the occasional odd behaviour.
Anyway, it's gone again now and it won't go into reboot, just cycles checking NVRAM and the whatsit that it checks before the NVRAM (that passes BTW).
It then says power up so I let go of the menu and exit and it just goes back to cycling powered by ABT and the red light flashing on and off.
Is it dead do you think?

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
Sounds it. Have you asked DVDO? I'd also try a new PSU just in case.

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
Now, when I replug it in at the wall it takes easily five to ten minutes for it to power up at all.
On hard reboot it fails at "Init Hardware...."
Does this help?

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
OK, I have sent an email to Anchor Bay...
I was using the VP30 with just a 32" LCD and the cost of replacing the VP30 would be more than buying a new 37" LCD (I can only fit 37" in the TV space in my lounge).
Given that I was also using the VP30 as an HDMI switch, and that new LCDs have sufficient HDMI connections for my needs (3), and that even my new screen will be pretty small, do you think that I would get more benefit from changing the scaler or the TV?

SkyHD
PopcornHour
Naim DVD5
Any input appreciated.

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
Just had a reply from Aaron @ ABT:
"Thank you for taking time to send us your e-mail. This sounds to be
a bad power supply. you might contact our UK distributor for a
replacement or any universal power supply would be fine as long as it
follow 6 volts with at least 5 amps. If you have any further questions
or concerns, please feel free to contact me either by phone or e-mail."
This is borne out by my having left the thing on last night with its error messages cycling. After about half an hour it started to behave normally so I unhooked the SkyHD box from the TV, shoved the lead back through the VP30 and went through the menu changing settings again.
I expect it won't want to come out of standby tonight.
Where does one get a new PSU for it, please?

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
That's rather a lot of current. Having a quick look, but I can't find one in RS.

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
Supplier of electronics. It does take quite a bit of current, Barcoing.
For a PSU, try Info@csesolutions.co.uk - they're the UK distributor for DVDO

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
After doing the rounds of the UK resellers and receiving quotes for a new PSU that would, not so long ago, have contributed a significant proportion towards resurfacing the stretch of the M6 between Coventry and Birmingham, I went stateside:
http://www.lenexpo-electronics.com/
$28 for the PSU,
$21 International Airmail shipping.
Even if I have to pay Greedy Gordon I still save over half what it would have cost me in the UK.
Even in this day and age.

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
New PSU arrived and the VP30 is good as new. Magic.
I have now bought a VP50 from Brandan84 and this will be arriving on Tuesday so my VP30 will soon be appearing in the Classifieds. If anybody particularly wants one reply on here and I'll list it as soon as I see the reply.
Only upgrading because the VP50 will PReP the 576p signal from my Naim DVD5 DVD player over DVi - HDMI whereas on the VP30 I had to use 576i scart to RGBs.

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
Please keep trading restricted to the classifieds - but give people the heads up here when you post in that forum.

I had exactly the same problem as you - think it must have been after the bad weather recently and some power cuts/surges (although I have surge protection). There is also a good thread on the AVS Forums covering the same point: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...php?p=14498084
Anyway, to cut a long story short I got onto Maplin and got a replacement switched mode power supply for £19.99 covering 6 Volt/5 Amp as needed by the VP30: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...48517&doy=22m8.
Works perfectly

Re: VP30 reet poorly - update
I'm sure it did but as I was selling my VP30 I thought I had better supply a genuine PSU with it.
