Using Skydish for freesat at the same time

My neighbour in the flat above is running Sky tv.

Can i possibly use his dish to connect to a freesat box in my flat, whilst he still retains his sky tv service? if so what do i need to install to make it work?

A quad or octo LNB for a start depending on how many boxes your neighbour has plus if he has Sky+ etc and the additional cabling to your flat. You would probably be better off just getting your own dish installed, your neighbour might not be happy if you knock his service out whilst doing a bit of DIY.

Re: Using Skydish for freesat at the same time

It depends how many lnb's there are on his dish to connect feeds to.

If he's got sky+ then it would more than likely be a quad lnb dish, in which case he would be using two of them to feed his two tuners, leaving you free to connect a cable onto one of the spare 2 lnb's.

Obviously you'd need to be on pretty good terms with him to do it, so it may be best to start by having a friendly chat about what he's got at the moment.
