Samsung LE32A456 - Play.com - Good buy?
Hi
Appreciate any knowledgeable person giving me a point in the right direction.
Looking for a tv for the bedroom. 32", which will be used primarily for watching the built in freeview, and a standard DVD player.
I found the following model at Play.com LE32A 436/456
4 real questions: - Why would they list 436 / 456 ?
- The price appears good @ £399 in delivery?
- Any experience of buying from play.com (I buy lots of smaller items)?
- Should I consider any other TV as an alternative?
This is only for occassional viewing in the bedroom, so don't need anything overly sophisticated. I don't mind spending the money if its justified, but I've wasted money in the past buying something that was way over the top for my needs
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Their the same tv, just cosmetically different. The one pictured at play.com is the 436 IIRC, the 456 is similar looking to the R88

Different tv's. a436/a437 has a contrast ratio of 8500 and the a456/a457 has a contrast ratio of 10000.

No visible difference, even with the contrast ratio difference. Its the dynamic not static.

Re: Samsung LE32A456 - Play.com - Good buy?
I also just ordered the A456 from Dixons.co.uk. Arriving next friday when I am at home.
It was listed on their website for £399, but with the AW10 code, I got it for £389. Looks really nice from the picture and the specs for it look great too. I've also ordered a wall bracket for it, from another website, as I will be hanging it above my iMac in the corner of my room. I will post some pictures when its up next Friday.
Now I will also be able to use the PC Input from my iMac and output it to the TV. Should I wish to watch some HD Material, or DVD, or even browse the internet, I will be able to on the 32". Can't wait to see FrontRow working on it.

I already have the R88BD, the one with 8500:1 contrast ratio, and touch panel buttons.
It is the best I've seen. No motion blur, at all, not on Football, or F1. It's really fantastic picture quality, and there are more connections than you can shake a stick at.
So, this bodes well for the A456. It's got a better contrast ratio of 10000:1 and its obviously newer tech and a slightly different look. It's going to look awesome. No doubt. Again, as mentioned above, I will post some images when it arrives next friday and it wall mounted. Box pics as well if you like.

if your thinking of this TV you can get the A436 from dixons for 359 if you use TV1 and AW10 codes. Plus even more if you go through quidco.

Re: Samsung LE32A456 - Play.com - Good buy?
Hi
First of all thanks to those that took the time to read me post.
Just wanted to share my experience here.
I went to Comet to take a look at the 457 tv, and was (unusually) surprised by the level of apparent knowledge, honesty, and approach of the sales person.
Left me for 15 minutes to have a thorough play with the TV, and hooked up a DVD and Sky Digital for me to play with.
I ended up buying the TV, and got the following deal:
Samsung LE32457 TV - RRP £499
Samsung Upscaling DVD player - RRP - £79
Monster HDMI Cable - RRP £59.99
Total price paid £520, on 6 months interest free (which I wasn't looking for but seemed like a good offer).
Bought from my local store, and they loaded it into the car for me.
So far, watched 2 of the European Cup games on it (both from the DTV built in) and found the picture quality to be very very good. I also watched Transformers on DVD (upscaled to 1080P and then processed by the TV) and that was truely awesome.
I knew I was going to need a DVD player for the bedroom, and the one we ended up getting is very nice in appearance (and so far) and performance so all in all very happy.
I compared it with the Series 5 model side by side, which I would have liked for the 1080P pannel, but as this is just a bedroom TV, was a little overkill for my needs.
I have pretty much used the out of the box settings so far, but will play around a little with the information on this site of course.
Only disappointing thing (which I was expecting) is the quality of the sound, which is adequate, but not amazing. Certainly doesn't rival the built in sound of my Pioneer Kuro from downstairs, but I knew this would be the case, and I'm sure I can live with it.
The other models I looked at in this price range didn't have the nice aesthetics of this TV, and for my purpose, this seems to fit the bill nicely.
Any questions, please feel free to ask. If I can help I will.
Regards
Dale

The only part of the deal that wasn't so good was the £60 HDMI cable, you got ripped off really. That cable won't work any better than an £5 cable. Its carrying a digital signal, 1s and 0s so its either on or off.

I will probably be buying the Samsung LE32A456 tomorrow so thats good to know. Motion blur and stuck pixels are 2 of my biggest gripes with LCDs.
