itunes and avi files

I want to add my movie collection to itunes but when I drag them to it nothing happens. Does itunes only allow mp4 movies. Is there anyway to get avi files to show up in cover flow.

yes you're right there isn't any avi support in itunes but there are quite a few free avi to mp4 converters out there this one works well

oh yeah and once you have imported your movies they will show up in cover flow.. but it will just be a screenshot not an actual cover of course..

Thanks. Well I have to many movies to bother converting them to mp4. How come itunes doesn't support avi movies. I wanted them in cover flow :(
