"safely remove hardware" - how to remove a device form this list?

Hi all. In windows XP, how do you remove an item from the 'safely remove hardware' list without uninstalling it?

i have a usb dvd drive, and when ever i go to eject my usb pen, i always get confued between the pen and the dvd drive.

so can i 'hide' the dvd drive from the list somehow?

thanks.

One option....

With your DVD and flash stick plugged in, go to the safely remove hardware screen, highlight an item at a time and click "properties" then click "policies" and select "Optimize for quick removal". That way you can unplug without doing the safe removal thing as long as a file copy is not in progress.

Hope that helps
