a price to pay

Granada region its 16 months to my swichover
Freeview is out no coverage
Sky and Freesat are in
At a price to me. Because im told to go digital
At the same time that airspace which wll be clear will be used for hd, mobiles etc.So the goverment of the day will bnifit selling the airspace as they did with 3g
peaple over 75 will struggle. It depends on the beifits they get
The region who has had the swithover and peaple whi could not get a freeview signel has this changed after the switchover

Unless there are some things in place to aid certain sections of the public then yes there will be some expense, at the very least a £30 set top box and at worse a STB a new aerial to get all 6 DTT muxes.
You are spot on that the revenue generated by the sale of the new spectrum should fund the switchover including 100% subsidies for pensioners and discounts for the rest of us.

Worth remembering that once analogue has gone than DTT appears, I don't know if it will be literally minutes between the two services changing over or days but I doubt it will be so long as to cause any real issues.
The process has already started in Cumbria and Whitehaven so it could be worth reading up on those areas for any potential issues and confusion raised.

For the older section of the public lets hope those tasked with informing the public do their job and for the rest of the us the digital switchover has been known for a many years and the timetable put into place a couple of years ago.

Just done a search and some info for Whitehaven residents can be found here, assume the same or a more suitable approach is taken to aid those who can not sort it out themselves.

You should get Freeview after switchover.

Here's a guide as to how strong the digital signal is to analogue now:

If the government want everyone to switch then they should fork out to those who can't afford the switch over

Undoubtedly. But this is the government that wants to spend all our money for our benefit, because they know better than we do what we need.

Which is mostly a lot of procedures and controls.

I didn't vote for them. Getting harder and harder to find anyone who will admit to having done so.
