media portal on start-up

i'm messing around at the moment with media portal on my XP machine. got everything working relatively well. however when i start my machine from cold it loads and goes to the desktop, as it should normally.

but from here i cant get media portal to load using my MCE remote. i have to get up start it with the mouse and sit back down, its ANNOYING!!!!!

is there a way to start media portal from either the remote or having it start on its own without needing to double click?

hope that makes sense

Re: media portal on start-up

in the configuration for mediaportal, i think it is under general settings, is an option to launch mediaportal at startup. you can also launch it full screen or in the tray i think

Re: media portal on start-up

mossym - you are right. There is an option to select this to launch at start-up, I have it selected and it works fine. Windows loads first as normal, then MP loads up automatically.

Re: media portal on start-up

You need the mptray TSR (Media Portal user here) Otherwise when you press start on the remote nothing happens.

Re: media portal on start-up

well, its working but not fault free. i'm trying to get the remote to work with zoomplayer or any other good player and having a nightmare.

in messing around trying to get this working i messed everything up and deleted something i shouldn't, anyway it meant re-installing everything from scratch now media portal wont play audio through my amp and it's p****ng me off.

got it to work with one file but the others play without sound

i'm using FFDshow if someone can help and let me know what should and shouldn't be checked. s/pdif is a nightmare to get working.

for some reason ffdshow video is being used but ffdshow audio isn't, i dont get it, i've done something wrong somewhere but i cant figure out where.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: media portal on start-up

If using digital out to a av amp/av processor

Scaling

Enabling RAW (DVD) for ffdshow scaling

Also need to add and select "ffdshow raw video filter" in Mediaportal post processing in DVD and Movie config sections.

Re: media portal on start-up

While this thread is here - anyone have any idea why I get no video only sound when selecting the codecs for movie viewing? I have selected NVIDIA's codecs for video and sound - sound is working. For now I just use TheaterTek as the external player, but an internal player would be nice!
