Ban on normal bulbs in Ireland. What can I now use for dimming lights

Don't want to use the new bulbs as the light is very poor and i don't like the refresh rate. It looks like I can's use LED's cause you can't dim them. Do I have any options or are the hippies who don't watch TV gonna win ?

I don't mind using the energy saving bulbs in rooms that I don't spend a lot of time in. But reading or watching tv. I don't have any options open.

Am totally kitting out my living room at the moment and I am stuck when it comes to lighting other than stock up maybe 5 years worth of bulbs

LED lights are dimmable afaik. Bit pricey, but use alot less power, and last forever!
