Hi all,
Ive got an urgent problem please and need some help, I have to get access to a family members PC and I dont know their password to log onto XP.
They have a guest account so I can get access but I need access to his files and what is stored on his user account.
This is a completely genuine request and nothing below board is being carried out we just need access to his stuff.
I have tried a website called loginrecovery.com but that didnt even give me an option for his user account and even then came up as blanks for all passwords which is wrong :suicide:
Would really appreciate some guidance.

Unless you have access to a supervisor enabled account or your family member made a password reset disk you're not going to get very far. You'll also have to explain why you changed their password when they get back as the reset disk doesn't show the old one.
I strongly suggest leaving the passwords alone for that account as you'll destroy EFS encrypted files, personal certificates and passwords for web sites and network resources. Instead you could consider trying to make a new supervisor level account which can read the files from the other supervisor account as it will have full access.
Boot up and press f8 after the system beep. A menu will appear, choose safe mode
Log in as administrator, a password is unlikely to be needed unless the computer owner set it for security reasons (for example to keep other family members from messing up the computer).
Go to control panel and select user account and create a new account there with administrator rights.
Restart from the usual shut down menu and you'll be able to log in as a supervisor and find the files and documents that you need.

Thanks for that, one of my mates told me that trick and thank God it worked. Unfortunately I wont be having to explain why I removed his password but at least we can get access to his photos and stuff now.
Thanks for the replies :)
