As the title says - what would people recommend to protect (my shiny new) iphone?
Dez
p.s. I've searched the forums for "skin", "skins", "cases" but drawn a blank
I currently use an Incase skin like this (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?s=priceLH&fnode=home/shop_iphone/iphone_accessories/cases&nplm=TN563&mco=D05469C3).
It fits well and makes the phone easier to grip

bodyguardz for iphone is an alternative to InvisibleShield. about £10-15 from ebay.

or, just don't bother. I've had one for a couple of months now and its absolutely fine, just chuck it in my pocket with my keys, no screen scratches, no damage to the brushed steel on the back.
They are so much more resilient than the original ipods (shiny steel and plastic fronts did not last well - the new optical glass front and brushed steel back are much better).
life's too short to worry about things like this, plus they make it feel funny too!

really nice case, but u can get it on ebay at the mo from the US, and u still need a screen pro.
incase slider or switcheasy case :)
I have a switcheasy one in black and already done its job, when it dropped and got run over by my little one in his battery powered car.
iphone is still perfect but case is scratched on the back.

From many users comments, I found that using only invisibleShield and bodyguardz are not quite practical as they usually pick up dirt and dust at their boarders.
So, i think my solution would be... (surely if you like the looks)
1. Get a good screen protector,
the one that cover most part of the front
Martinfield is very good, however, due the price i would choose invisibleshield over it.
2. Get any case i like (prefer thing), silicone, aluminium, incase slide
(from few quids to few tenner)
3. A large pouch or sleeve to carry everything (including earphone)
(any pouch that is bigger than iphone )
My ideal solution would be (may not be possible:nono:)
Something like InvisbleShield wraped around iphone without any boarder, like cover it and use hair dryer to shrink it to the iphone shape. Then use something sharp it cut for ports.
Another soft thin layer to protect the phone from small impact.
then any carry pouch which can hold all necessary accessories.

The main issue I had with no case was that iPhone is rather slippery when you have dry hands. But I'm not prepared to sacrifice usability for a rugged case. I normally hate cases of any kind.
I have the Incase protective cover, which I think is Apple exclusive distribution. It's a minimal rubbery covering, leaving the entire front open. But you can put it face down on a table and the screen doesn't touch the table. The rubberiness gives shock protection, and makes it very unlikely to slip out of your hand.
Something to watch for with close fitting soft cases is abrasive dirt (sand particles etc) getting between skin and phone. The phone may get marked by the abrasive. Good idea to remove the cover and wash it out every month or so.

every night for me, you see i carry a small sand pit around in my pocket...
no matter how much i try to get rid it just comes back:mad:
and also the back of my case has 4 proud parts that are softer (almost squidgy)
so that when you put it down it does not move...
but when you whip it out of your pocket, everything else including the pocket liner comes out spraying everyone in close proximity in sand:(

I wonder if you actually need a case (aside from making it less slippery in your hands)

The tempered glass is almost impossible to scratch (even with a pen or screwdriver) - it's easier to scratch the back - Lg have cottoned on to this and are going over to tempered glass and carbon fibre - Although practicaly scratchproof, the glass will shatter if you drop it

I have the invisible shield, great protector and you can hardly see it, my only issue is the eggshell effect on it, makes running your finger over it more difficult and not so smooth. Anyone have a similar protector with a glosssy finish?
