On O2 Simplicity - Do I unlock or just jailbreak?

I have looked through all the unlocking threads, so first of all, if this question has been covered in those pages please accept my apologies for not finding a definite answer to my question.

There must be many people in the same boat as me - O2 but not the official tarriff so I hope this thread will help get a quick and concise answers.

I have an iphone which I plan to use with the O2 Simplicity tarriff. £25/mth - 600 mins; 1000 texts & unlimited (200mb limit?) data

Questions:

1.If I use Ziphone - do I do it 'all'? - unlock and jailbreak? Or do I just jailbreak?

2. How is everyone else getting on with the above or similar tarriff? Have any additional charges hit your bill?

3. If, within a few days, the phone is unsuitable for any reason can I restore and take back to shop - do they test to see if it was hacked?

4. Is Ziphone the best or are there better alternatives?

5. Can I use the unlimted Cloud access as if on the Iphone tarriff?

6. Do I need any special software to set up the phone in the house for my wireless network?

Cheers

Tom

Re: On O2 Simplicity - Do I unlock or just jailbreak?

Hey Tomdale.

1. I used Ziphone, and there is an option to unlock, jailbreak or do everything.
2. I was already on O2 when I bought an iphone, I haven’t yet received my first bill, but I have a feeling my data charges are going to be higher then normal. Might have to get a bolt-on.
3. I’m pretty sure you can put it back to its original state via itunes, just restore the latest firmware.
4. Not 100% sure, I have only ever used this application. It is popular though, which means it must be one of the best.
5. Nope, you have to be on the special iphone tariffs to take advantage of that.
6. Nope, just key in your wireless password/key and your off.

All answered to the best of my knowledge, hope this helps!!

1. Just Jailbreak

2. Depends how much you use it I suppose

3. You cannot restore a ziphoned phone to an OOTB state, although whether they would actually check is debatable.

4. Pwnage is the best option at the moment, and fully reversible.

5. Nope.

6. Nope, it connects just as a laptop would.
