Calling all W890i owners (especially those on O2)

I recently got a W890i as an upgrade for my previous W710i, which I've been very happy with for the last 12 months. I like the W890i almost across the board except for one minor issue - I can't get a signal in most places! Maybe this is nit-picking to expect a phone to be able to make calls at least 50% of the time but apparently this is a big ask of my W890i.

I could get a signal on my W710i almost anywhere: home, work, the car no matter where I was driving and the GF's house but with the W890i the only place I can get a signal is at home. I'd expect such a slim phone to have a slightly compromised internal aerial but this is a joke. Most of the time it says "Emergency calls only" but occasionally is says "No network available".

So, is anyone out there having the same issue or do you think I have a faulty phone? Please state which provider you are with, too. Thanks

My girlfriend has got the same phone, she's with T-Mobile but has the exact same problem.

Can never get signal - so she's taking it back to complain.

I have this phone on Orange. I had a slight problem with network signal for the first two days with the phone, but ever since has been perfect

I have a W890i on T-mobile and have exactly the same problem.
I upgraded from a W850i that always had a perfect signal, I'm seriously considering just switching back to the old phone.

I should probably have followed this up. Got O2 to do a courier swap for a new one and the replacement works perfectly The signal is even better than on my W710i, which I was always very happy with.

The first one was obviously just dodgy.

My only problem with the phone now is that that the screen is pretty much unusable in any kind of bright daylight! But I can live with that, it's the style/functionality compromise.

I'm waiting for mine to be swapped today, hopefully it'll fix the reception problems I've been having...

I have 2 W890's supplied by o2 (business contract), both were the first batch delivered and both have poor battery life and terrible signal quality. I have 2 new replacements on route, if these aren't any better I will swap them for 2 new phones.

My battery life isn't great either but I expected this since it's such a slim phone and hence the battery has to be too. I expect these compromises in a "design over functionality" phone like the W890i.

Yup, also getting the same problem. My K800i is on 3 bars in my flat, but my W890i just gives me Emerg. calls only. REALLY disappointed, coz I otherwise love the phone. Gonna have to go back if this is a common problem.
