Looking for a sat nav to avoid traffic and toll roads in France.

I am looking for a sat nav to avoid traffic and toll roads in France, but know NOTHING about sat nav.

I normally cross the channel to the north east of France or Belgium, then drive south via Luxembourg for the cheap fuel, so I presume they would be covered as western europe too.

Could anyone please recommend anything that would do this - or mention anything they feel is good or best avoided with sav nav in general?

Thanks

im thinking of buying one of these myself and have been looking round for the best one for a while now, and this seems to be it. also the price has gone down an extra £5 now too!

Thanks

It does look quite good - and i just took a cursory look at the features - but saw nothing about avoiding toll roads and it seems the traffic sensor is no longer available.

I had also intended to swap my current car radio for one with bluetooth and to buy a small mp4/Xvid player that I could use on flights or on holiday for watching films.

My current PDA plays them but the screen is too small for two to watch - so I was thinking about forgetting about the bluetooth car radio and getting a sat nav that did this, in addition to playing digital video.

This effectively meant it stretched my budget as I was saving 150 quid from not getting the radio and video player - and could get a sat nav offering those features too - but obviously the 4 inch plus screen would now be a better idea.

Any suggestions anyone?

Re: Looking for a sat nav to avoid traffic and toll roads in France.

You can avoid the toll roads by just not driving on them and then let the sat nav re route you. Once on the new route just don't accept any instructions to join the motorway and it will keep on re routing as you go along.
I had to do this when stuck in a massive jam on the motorway near Montpellier.
