Re: Formatting Iphone

When you say "so everything is deleted" what do you mean? Do you want to remove everything or just contacts, music, settings, etc?

To go back to a "virgin" state like when you bought it you just use the Restore function in itunes. Press and hold sleep and home until you see the apple logo then release sleep and continue to hold home until the phone enters restore mode and then restore.

To format completely is not possible, and I assume would brick your phone

Re: Formatting Iphone

You can also go to Settings, then General, then Reset on your iPhone to choose what you want resetting, i.e just settings, all content, keyboard dictionary, network settings or home page layout.

All this information is backed-up on iTunes when it is connected each time.

Re: Formatting Iphone

if its becasue your selling it or something like then then you could just do a restore in itunes.
then re jailbreak and activate for the buyer (only takes 2 mins these days)

that way everythign will be 100% gone!
