Re: Denon S302 region free?

Hiya, I have the instructions I used to make my S302 region free. Am in the UK, just a warning as the unlock sequence might be different elsewhere. Unable to confirm it working as I have no foreign discs.

1 - Ensure cd tray is empty

2 - Put unit into standby mode using front panel On/standby

3 - Press at same time on front panel the TRACK FORWARD (>>), FUNCTION & ON/STANDBY buttons and release

4 - Press the ON/Standby button (front panel) to power up the unit and wait til display shows 0:00:00

5 - Using the remote handset press in order 3, 7, 1, 9, 4, 6, 2, 8

6 - Unit will go into standby mode, press ON/Standby button on the front panel to switch it back on

7 - To check the update has worked press the status button on the handset 18 times and it should show "Region A2" on the front display.

8 - Unplug at mains for a few secs (don't know why, just says to on the instructions!)

Let me know if you get a different regions disc playing.

Re: Denon S302 region free?

Hi, thanks. It worked. Did you see any difference in the image quality after the hack ?
I have the impression that the image quality is worse then before.
It say's region 2, but I can play US DVD's. Do you have the same phenomena ?

Region hacks don`t make any difference to the performance or quality of any machine! You might notice the difference with NTSC DVDs as they are a different format with less lines of resolution compared to the PAL format. Check your settings on your TV and system to ensure its all correctly setup for NTSC playback.
