Looking for a 720p DLP

I am looking to replace my existing projector (Benq PE5120) after three years of perfect service.

Initially I thought of buying an Optoma HD65, it is cheap reviews are reasonable but a couple of things are putting me off one is the noise the other questional build quality.

Looking around the Yamaha DPX-830 looks to be quieter and offer reasonable performance and I would hope would be of better build quality, but I have not been able to find any reviews to backup it's performance.

The other Option I have looked into is importing either a Mitsubishi HC1500 or HC3000 from the states, the dollar is low and both can be delivered before VAT / Duty for around 450 pounds which looks good value they are both quiet the HC1500 is brighter but drops some contrast due to the lack of an iris.

Can anyone else suggest any other 720p DLPs which I should consider?

I also looked at 1080p DLPs, but they are longer throw and I would end up with a smaller screen than I currently use with the Benq.

I can vouch for the yam 830 as i have one and i believe it is exceptional value for the money. There arent many reviews and for me it was a bit 'suck it and see' but im impressed. If you are concerned your quite welcome to pop over with your fav film and view mine

Hi dj

We have the new Themescene HD75 in and it's a bargain at £795, if this is a little to much have a look at it's little brother the HD65 at under £500 it is quite an amazing projector.

If your in the area why not book a demonstration or if you would like more information on either projector please us of the links provided or please do give us a call! [

Re: Looking for a 720p DLP

The HD75 looks interesting on paper, and its dark chip 2 which is also interesting. Is this the new 'HD73' or a new range inbetween it and the HD70?

I'll recomend the yamaha 830 availble from some places online for a good price, its a very very good projector.
