imightbewrong htpc problem 2 - adjusting picture for plasma using Catalyst

Me again.

Another problem I have is with the Radeon 2600 (2400 - don't think the particlar one matters). I have a panasonic PWD8 screen. I picked a resolution that looked pretty good, but the picture was slightly out, so I used the Catalyst controls to make the picture a touch wider, and move it two inches to the right. Then it's perfect, fills the screen and all looks great.

However (you knew it was coming) - it's all fine for a while, then one time when I go from the desktop into Media Center, or sometimes when the screen saver goes on and off, the picture will suddenly revert to the pre-adjusted settings.

No great drama I think, so I go back into Catalyst, but the settings here are in their post-adjusted state, and it won't let me widen or move the picture (as I had pretty much already maxed-out the settings before).

Does anyone know why this happens? Why do the settings ping back with a 50/50 chance each time there is a major screen-refresh? Is there a better way to do what I'm doing?

Thanks again.

<edit> should add that whenever I reboot the screen looks as I want first time every time. Then I can watch entire films or leave it for days in media centre and it will be fine. But then one time it will ping back to being slightly out. A re-boot then fixes it again, but obviously can't be done if a program is being recorded at the time.

Re: imightbewrong htpc problem 2 - adjusting picture for plasma using Catalyst

I've since downloaded a new set of catalyst drivers and it's now fine - no problems in several weeks. Interestingly, a couple of catalyst 'toy' applications still have the problem (e.g. some silly planet viewer?), but nothing important.

So that's all my niggly problems media centre problem solved
